Being Faithful During This Present Darkness                Daniel 10

Background to Daniel’s last vision                                                                                                                  V. 1-3

In previous chapters when Daniel would pray like this, it was because he was burdened to pray for the people of God and Jerusalem                              Ezra 1:1-4                              Cyrus in 539 BC

People who pray fervently experience God at a DEEPER level                                                                 V. 4-9

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”                     -James 4:8

When people take the time to meet with God, He takes the time to meet with them and reveal MORE of Himself to them!                                                    James 4:8

Touched by an angel                                                                                                                                          V. 11-12

Great reminder: God loves you greatly, and God responds to your prayers!

God loves you enough to answer…

It’s in those moments of heartfelt interaction with God that He becomes more important to us than our UNDERSTANDING of what we need.

The Spiritual Battle Behind our Present Difficulties                                                                                    V. 13-19

Daniel did not know it at the time, but his responding to the burden to pray by actually praying made the DIFFERENCE in the spiritual realm.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”                                -Ephesians 6:11-12

Three Truths from Ephesians 6:

1.             People are not the enemy – they are the OBJECT of our loving concern!                  -2Cor. 5:16

2.             People are greatly influenced by the actions of DEMONIC forces                              -Eph. 2:1-3

3.             Fervent prayer as well as living and sharing the truth win people

Until Jesus comes, the spiritual battle CONTINUES                                                                                    V. 20

In other words, until Jesus comes back, we will always have the next set of circumstances to face.

In one form or another, evil always has to be confronted and dealt with. It doesn’t mean we always have to go to war, but it means we always have to be READY and watchful.

Satan has a twofold strategy as he opposes God in the world:

First, he will do whatever it takes to keep someone from hearing the gospel and BECOMING a Christian.

Second, when a person does become a Christian, they often experience even MORE spiritual warfare than a non-Christian does.

Satan will use everything in his arsenal to keep believers from trying to free hell-bound sinners. We must fight back with prayer and the Word of God!                                        Matthew 16:13-19
