Don’t Miss the Royal Wedding!

“I want to try to get to Heaven if possible. I’m hearing I am not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to Heaven, this will be one of the reasons.”                       -President Trump on Fox and Friends

“The gospel is this: we are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”    -Tim Kellar

Matthew 22:1-14

He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become a children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.        -John 1:11-13

When Jesus taught parables, He ingeniously made 3 points at once: a point about what God is saying to everyone; a point encouraging those who receive that truth; and a point rebuking those who rejected it.

The Father expects everyone to attend His Son’s wedding feast

Aren’t you glad that there’s always more room for people at the Father’s feast?

For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the LORD GOD, so turn, and live!             -Ezekiel 18:32

Every excuse not to attend the Son’s wedding is lame and unforgiveable

Ancient royal weddings thrown by the most important king were not optional events – attendance was expected and it was a loyalty test to your king and his heir – not attending wasn’t just an insult, it was treason. And who would want to miss the greatest party you would ever attend!

“You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”    -Ps. 16:11

Those who do attend the Son’s wedding need to be clothed rightly

Jesus’ words in verses 11-12 remind us that a lot of people that come into churches and even become members think they are okay with God when they haven’t yet truly been born again (John 3:3).

For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.      -2 Cor. 5:21

And to the one who does not work but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness.         -Rom. 4:5

He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become a children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.        -John 1:11-13

For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, lest anyone should boast.”                                                                                     -Eph. 2:8-9

“I hope to grow rich in Heaven by taking care of orphans on earth.”                          -George Whitfield

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”                                  -Eph. 2:10
