The Darkness Before the Dawn - Matthew 24:15-31

During the coming Tribulation, a man far worse than Haman will emerge as the Antichrist ruler over the entire world. But at the end of that time, Jesus the King of Kings will return to earth, defeat Antichrist and set up His 1,000 year rule.

Matthew 24:15-31

Because you have kept My word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth. - Rev. 3:10

The Abominable man of sin - V. 15

The phrase “let the reader understand” after referencing Daniel also lets us know that Jesus is telling them what Daniel had also told them. He expected them to be familiar with the prophets (Luke 24:25-27).

And in the days of those kings the God of Heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever. - Daniel 2:44

There are different names for the Antichrist (1 John. 2:18) in the Bible, including: Beast (Rev. 13); Man of sin/lawlessness (2 Th. 2:3); Son of Perdition/ Destruction (2 Th. 2:3); Little Horn (Dan. 7:8); Prince to come (Dan. 9:26); Abomination of Desolation (Matt. 24:18, Dan. 9:27).

Daniel 9:27 lets us know that some kind of peace treaty the Antichrist initiates will start the 7-year tribulation, and that he will defile the Temple and turn on the Jews at the Mid-point of the Tribulation.

The most horrid time of suffering and deception    - V. 16-26

After we read in verse 21 of the terrible suffering during the great tribulation, we are glad to read of God’s promise in verse 22.

As I have studied the Tribulation, I see 3 Biblical purposes for it:
The beginning of the judgment of the Satanic world system
The refocusing Jews on Jesus as their Messiah and King
The last chances for Gentiles to turn to Jesus for salvation.

The Invincible Son of Man will come to rule - V. 27-31

I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of Heaven there came one like a Son of Man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. And to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him; His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom one that shall not be destroyed. - Daniel 7:13-14

What will happen when Jesus returns at His second coming?

Jesus will initiate His perfect 1,000 year rule over the world from Jerusalem.

They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with Him are called chosen (elect) and faithful.    -Rev. 17:14
And then He will gather His elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of Heaven. - Mark 13:27
