I Must Tell Jesus         Luke 7:1-17

 “I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!

I cannot bear these burdens alone;

I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!

Jesus can help me, Jesus alone!”

-Elisha Hoffman

Jesus responds to a VIP’s faith                                              V. 1-10

In verse 4 the religious leaders had talked of how deserving this man was – in verse 6 the man makes clear he knows he is unworthy to approach Jesus. Jesus responds to _____________________!

What Jesus considers great faith                              V. 9

Two big things are happening here –

1.         You’ve got a Gentile recognizing what Jewish leaders refuse to – that Jesus is the ultimate ________________, the Lord!

God worked miracles through human prophets and apostles in the Bible, but only of Jesus do we read that He was physically in one place while healing in another (Matthew 15, Luke 7, John 4).

2.         You’ve got Jesus connecting great faith with responding to and _____________________ to the Lordship of Christ!

Jesus’ also responds when we least expect it                      V. 11-17

Jesus raising this dead son would help the people understand He was at least a great prophet, perhaps the one Moses had said would come, the one whose commands they must hear (Deut. 18:15).

Compassion has been defined as “Your ___________ in my heart.”
