The Gospel Changes Our Direction

Philippians 3:12-16

Two Observations about our New Direction as Christians:

I.         The Prince and the P_____________          V. 12-13a

I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.        -Philippians 1:6

II.        The Prize and the Pilgrim’s P__________ V. 13b-16

Too many people are crippled by their past and miss today’s opportunities to grow in Christ and make a difference for Him!

“I am never better than when I am on the full stretch for God.”

–George Whitfield

Two frogs fell into a deep cream bowl,

One was an optimistic soul;

But the other took a gloomy view,

“We shall drown,” he cried, without more ado.

So with a last despairing cry,

He flung up his legs and said, “Good-bye.”

Quoth the other frog with a merry grin,

“I can’t get out, but I won’t give in.

I’ll just swim round till my strength is spent,

Then will I die the more content.”

Bravely he swam till it would seem

His struggles began to church the cream.

On the top of the butter at last he stopped,

And out of the bowl he gaily hopped.

What of the moral? Tis easily found:

If you can’t hop out, keep swimming round.
