Exodus Chapter 18
Moses reconnects with his family and his father-in-law V. 1-12
It’s important we be so God ____________________ that we recognize His hand in what He does through people!
As we read this chapter we get the idea that Jethro is going to fully commit to Yahweh because of the _____________________ of what God had done for Moses and Israel
We must take time to hear what God has done, and rejoice in what God has done!
What are some things we should stop and rejoice in God for?
What does Jethro do in verse 12?
Jethro leads out in ___________________ thanksgiving and worship to God!
Moses learns how to _________________ from his father-in-law V. 13-27
What was the problem Jethro observed in verse 14?
As you observe problems around you, learn how to ask good ________________ that will help spur discussion.
In calling Moses to not do it all alone, Jethro is also implying that God doesn’t __________________ him to! That’s still true for us today!
And then Jethro gives Moses a plan to solve this problem
Listen to this advice, Moses, and God will be with you!
From verses 19-22, list the 6 things Jethro tells Moses to do:
First, Spend time with God
Second, __________________ the people what God wants
Third, Select from the people __________________ leaders
Fourth, Place the qualified leaders in _________________ over the people
Fifth, Let them do their job, judging the people at all times
Sixth, When they need help on greater matters, _______________ them
Essentially, Jethro taught Moses how to do ______________ in a more focused way so he and his people could accomplish more!
Something similar happens in Acts 6:1-8
2 benefits from following Jethro’s advice:
1. Moses will be able to ________________ instead of burn out or give up
2. The people will be able to go home without ______________________!
Note this mutually beneficial relationship – Jethro learned from Moses how to have eternal life, and Moses learned from Jethro how to lead a more ___________________ life!
