Exodus Chapter 29

Last time we read about the garments that Aaron and his sons, the priests, were going to wear. Today we read the instructions for ordaining Aaron and sons, and also get a FORETASTE of what the different offerings will be.

The Supplies for the ordination service                                                                   V. 1-3

Aaron & sons cleansed, CLOTHED, and consecrated with oil                                  V. 4-9

Do you see any parallels here in verses 4-7 with what happens to us in Christ?      2 Cor. 5:21

Can you think of a Psalm that meditates on how unity is like the oil flowing down Aaron’s beard?

The Sin offering on their behalf                                                                                V. 10-14

Why did Aaron and sons place their hands on top of the bull?

To IDENTIFY with the sacrifice

The Burnt offerings on their behalf                                                                          V. 15-21

What is the point of verse 21 with the blood being taken from the altar and sprinkled back on Aaron and sons?

The Wave and Heave offering on their behalf                                                         V. 22-30

Why were Aaron and sons to wave their food before the Lord? 

To publicly CELEBRATE the mercy of God in making a way for their sins to be forgiven!

What are Aaron and sons to do after the burnt offering, sin offering, wave offering, and heave offering are done? 

According to verses 35-37, how long will this ordination time last?

The priests would be the Old Covenant mediators between Israel and God. Who is the New Covenant Mediator between God and us?
