Sermon Notes:

Trust Amidst Trials

Read James 1:1-8

The Pastor and his congregation                                                                      V. 1

The New Testament has several James’

This is probably James the half-brother of Jesus

Matthew 13:55       I Corinthians 15:7               Acts 1:14                  Acts 12:17

Galatians 1-2           Acts 15                                  Acts 21

Think differently about what you are struggling with                               V. 2-4

Feelings will only see the bad in trials; thinking with your Bible open will lead to a different perspective in the midst of your trials.

Is your relationship with God good enough that you will trust him to bring growth and good out of your trial?

Pray fervently about what you are thinking about                                     V. 5

Trust confidently about what you are praying about                                V. 6-8

The call to ask in faith without doubting is the call to trust God whether or not He does what we think He ought to do.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.    -Jeremiah 29:11

Pastor James is calling all Christians to really think and trust God amidst their trials!
