Eight Truths about God the Holy Spirit

Verse 39 is so important to understanding the Bible. It lets us know that after Jesus died and was resurrected from the dead and went back to Heaven, believers from then on would have the Spirit of God residing within them.

As Jesus went from earth back to Heaven, the Holy Spirit became the prominent member of the Trinity working on earth.

Eight Truths about God the Holy Spirit:

1.        The Godhead includes the Holy Spirit

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”        -Matthew 28:19

2.        The Holy Spirit is a Person

“When the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth who proceeds from the Father, HE will testify of Me.”    -John 15:26

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.                                   -Ephesians 4:30

3.        The Holy Spirit indwells believers at the moment of salvation

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.            -Ephesians 1:13-14

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?                        -1 Corinthians 3:16

4.        The Holy Spirit baptizes ALL believers at the moment of salvation

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body -whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free – and have all been made to drink of one Spirit.                                     -1 Corinthians 12:13

5.        The Holy Spirit is always available to control believers

Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit.                                                                                                           -Ephesians 5:17-18

6.        The Holy Spirit always leads us to glorify Jesus

He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.                             -John 16:14-15

7.        The Holy Spirit always leads us to Biblical truth, never away from it

I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth.                                                                                                   -John 16:12-13a

8.        The Holy Spirit strongly desires us to have abundant life now

The thief comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but I have come that they might have life, and might have it more abundantly.                       -John 10:10

Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously.”                           -James 4:5

The secret of victory in the Christian life is saying “Yes” to God the Holy Spirit, one decision at a time.
