Bible Themes to know before Studying Revelation

Revelation is not only the last book of the New Testament and the Bible. In a very real way, it is also the last book of the Old Testament as well. Revelation has over 400 allusions to Old Testament passages in its 22 chapters.

The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham.                                                     -Matthew 1:1

There are 2 focal points in studying prophecy:

First and foremost, Jesus!

“…Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”                                                                                       -Revelation 19:10b

Second but very significant – Israel.

“…Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers, and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ (Messiah) came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God, Amen.”               -Romans 9:4-5

Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”                                    -Acts 1:6-8
