God and Sexuality

Today’s Affirmation:

God designed sex only for use __________________ the marriage of a man and woman; I repent of all immorality

We easily gather from these verses God’s two purposes for sexuality: b_____________________ and procreation.

God’s perfect Plan A for everyone is to be a virgin until you marry, marry a virgin of the opposite sex, and get all your sexual fulfilment from that person within your marriage ____________________. 

Genesis 3:1-7 Satan’s temptation and the original sin (the fall)

Satan twisted God’s Word, then denied it, then questioned God’s character, and then tempted humans to _________ their own lives.

Do not commit adultery (sex with someone who is not your wife).                                     -Exodus 20:14                              See Leviticus 18 & 20     

“Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that He who created them in the beginning made them male and female, and He also said: For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, man must not separate.” -Matt. 19:4-6           See also Mark 7:20-23

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality (porneia), or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.                     -Ephesians 5:3               See also I Cor. 6:9-20

Each extra-marital sexual encounter tears off a piece of your heart and ________________ a part of your brain. No wonder God says, “Flee!”

How can we sin sexually against a fellow human?

The Bible’s teaching on this matter is as clear as it is unpopular: persistent unrepentant sexual sin leads people to hell (Matthew 5:27-32; Rom. 1:18-2:11; I Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21; I Thess. 4:3-8; I John 3:4-10).        -Kevin DeYoung

So what are we to do as believers?              I John 1:9!      

 

 

How do you talk to someone caught up in the lies of moral relativism and human autonomy?

 

The God we worship is a God of love. Which does not, according to any verse in the Bible, make sexual sin acceptable. But it does, by the witness of a thousand verses all over the Bible, make every one of our sexual sins changeable, redeemable, and wondrously forgivable.                           -Kevin DeYoung
