Psalm 20 Worksheet

It appears that David is answering the question for his subjects, “How can I ________________ for the King?”

Numbers 6 is the great priestly blessing to the people of Israel; Psalm 20 takes on the feel of a great ________________ blessing for the people of Israel.  

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.                          -Numbers 6:24-27

Note the parallelism in the poetry – YAHWEH and then the name of the God of Jacob.

When we speak of being protected by the “name” of God we are thinking of His characteristics and traits, as well as His _______________ that we function under.

Now what past event does this verse make us think of in the life of Jacob?

What future event does this make us think of that will be hard for Israel?

Can you see in your imagination the knowing exchange of looks between King David and his people as they get to this final line and together sing to the King of Kings?
