Religion Minus Jesus Equals Nothing           Luke 20:41-47

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”    -Luke 24:46-47

False Religion…

True religion begins with truly KNOWING Jesus. It continues with life lived out by faith in Jesus and thinking and speaking and acting like Jesus would if He was physically present.

True love for Jesus…

A Look at the names for Lord:

Before Jesus came to earth the Hebrew (H) Old Testament was translated into the Greek (G) language, which is also the language the New Testament is in.

The Numbers below correspond to Strong’s Concordance.

Yahweh (H3068) occurs over 6,500 times and appears as LORD.

Yahweh is translated as Kyrios (G2962) in the Greek Old Testament.

Adown (H113) and Adonay (H136) occur over 750 times and appear as Lord/ lord.

Adown and Adonay are both translated as Kyrios (G2962) in the Greek O.T.

Did you catch that? The same word translates both Yahweh and Adown/Adonay.

Kyrios (G 2962) occurs over 7,300 times in the Old Testament and nearly 750 times in the New Testament.

You will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God (Kyrios Theos) will give Him the throne of His father David.    -Lk 1:31-32

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD (Kyrion) your God (Theon) with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”                    -Matt. 22:37

“Hear, O Israel, the LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) our God (Elohim), the LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) is One! You shall love the LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) your God (Theos, Elohim) with all your heart, soul, and strength.”             -Deuteronomy 6:5

The LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) said to my Lord (Adown, Kyrios), “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power…The LORD (Yahweh, Kyrios) has sworn and will not relent, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” The Lord (Adonay, Kyrios) is at Your right hand; He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath. He shall judge among the nations…       -Psalm 110 (see also Psalm 2)
