Meanwhile Here on Earth Matthew 5:1-12

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life appears, then you will also appear with Him in glory.    -Col. 3:1-4

The same Jesus who died so that believers can go to Heaven emphatically told us to _____________________ doing things He can reward when we get there!    

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. -Matt. 6:19-21

Jesus implicitly spoke against this world’s ‘successitudes’: Successful are the rich, for they can buy whatever they want. Successful are those who live for today, because there is no tomorrow (YOLO). Successful are the powerful, for they control this earth. Successful are those who give in to sinful pleasures, for they won’t miss out on anything. Successful are those who steer clear of losers, because losers can’t really do anything for you. Successful are those who feed their sexual impulses, because we’re all just animals anyway. Successful are those who win at all costs, because the world remembers winners. Successful are those who work against Christians, because Christianity stands against all the above perspectives.   

8 Traits that characterize a Heavenly mindset:

1. Being poor in spirit                                                                     Matthew 5:3

4. Hungering and thirsting for r_______________                     Matthew 5:6

Then I heard a voice from Heaven saying to me, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.”    -Rev. 14:13
