The one who walked away Luke 22
He was there…
All along, Judas Iscariot had kept following Jesus on the outside, but he never did on the INSIDE.
Who was Judas?
Iscariot probably comes from two words, Ish, which means man, and Kerioth, which is a town in southern Judea. Put that together and you have that Judas was a man from Kerioth in Judea. He was the only disciple not from GALILEE.
What two things led to Judas’ betrayal?
Judas never truly BELIEVED in Jesus John 6:63-71
Judas never truly REPENTED of his sin John 12:1-8
Disobedience leads to a hardened heart, and gives the Devil a FOOTHOLD. For those who don’t know Jesus at all, Satan can develop a stronghold from which he uses the person to lie, kill, steal, and destroy.
Judas let Jesus wash his feet but not his HEART.
John 13:25-30
Judas had MINISTERED often in Jesus’ name without truly knowing Jesus.
Matthew 27:3-5
Note that the same crowd that egged you on to dishonor God will DISOWN you the moment you wish you hadn’t dishonored God.
Regret and remorse aren’t the same as repentance and faith.
After we have let Jesus down, how do we know we are a true disciple like Peter instead of a false disciple like Judas?
